Lila grew up in and attended school through the seventh grade in Mud Butte, SD, and went to eighth grade and high school in Sturgis, SD.

Then the young couple moved to work at the 2 Rivers Ranch before moving back to Stoneville.

In Albuquerque, she coordinated donations by seniors of food, clothing, and school supplies to the Albuquerque Public Schools Title I Homeless Students project.Bill then attended school in Sturgis where he met his high school sweetheart, Sally Hardy.Bill and Sally tied the knot on July 29, 1967, in Sturgis.Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lila's name may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis or the Sturgis Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
